Classic Hits of the '70s, '80s and More!

Electric Light Orchestra's "Don't Bring Me Down" is to date their highest charting hit in the US. It's the band's second highest hit in the UK where it peaked at #3. The song was dedicated to the NASA Skylab space station, which re-entered the Earth's atmosphere over the Indian Ocean and Western Australia July 11, 1979.


A common misheard lyric follows the title line. Jeff Lynne is actually saying a made-up lyric "Grroosss" which people heard as "Bruce!". The misconception became so popular he actually began to sing the word "Bruce" for fun at live shows.
